Charlotte to Host Final CIAA Tournament.

Charlotte NC:

Ron Rose

After 14 years the City of Charlotte will host CIAA Basketball Tournament one final time. The tournament came to Charlotte in 2006, after being in several other North Carolina and Virgina cities. The City of Charlotte saw the tournament attendance grow to record numbers of visitors. The past five years attendance to games have suffered severely, causing tournament official to move early games away from Spectrum Arena to Bojangles Arena. This was causing the NBA team Charlotte Hornets to schedule long road trips. Because the Spectrum Arena was being used by CIAA and the arena wasnt selling out. So only games the Semifinals and Championship games are now played at Spectrum Arena.

The CIAA Tournament will head to Baltimore Maryland for next 3 years. So with the tournament set to play for it’s final time February 24th-29th 2020, will the City of Charlotte attempt to attract the Mid Eastern Athletic Conference(MEAC) another Historic Black Athletic Conference to replace Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). The MEAC is home conferernce to such schools as Bethune Cookman , Florida A&M, Howard University ,North Carolina A&T , North Carolina Central University and South Carolina State University. These are some of the larger Historical Black Universities that have a large Alumni following in the Charlotte area and would be another great opportunity for the city.

Ravens Came Up Short!

The Ravens weren’t the same team we saw for 17 weeks during 2019 Regular season. The week off bye, might have affected teams chemistry. We all know in the NFL on any given sunday. Lamar Jackson was good in some aspects of Divisional Round and also bad. He was 31-59 for 365 (1) Td

,2 Int’s and 1 fumble. The Titans defense control the trenches forcing several 4 down stop. Baltimore was out of sync from the opening kickoff. Baltimore Ravens had a great season and Lamar Jackson with be around to cause problems for defenses and coaches, but tonight it didnt happen.

Who will be the 2020 Super Bowl Champions!

This NFL year has been very electrifying. We saw the 2017 Heisman Trophy Winner Lamar Jackson and Baltimore Ravens develope in great game manager. He was great with his arm and legs. We also saw Aaron Rogers and Green Bay Packers reemerge back as a threat in the NFC North. The Packers loaded up on defense and will be a problem for any team that may have to visit Lambeau Field in January. Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City could also be a problem as well. Seahawks Russell Wilson is another scary team. The Pats and Brady are no longer feared. The Texans and Watson have had moments, but haven’t been consistent with great back to back games.

This will start to form the Championship run.
